Description
Lego Batman: The Videogame is an action-fighting 3D video game published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game is available on all consoles including PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable. The game is based on and named after the DC Comics character Batman.
The game is similar to previous LEGO games released by the company, such as the LEGO Star Wars series and LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. However, this game is the first to have an original story. The game received positive reviews upon release, as well as a villain-only spin-off, LEGO DC Super-Villains, etc published by this game developers.
Gameplay
The core gameplay of this game is similar to previous video games such as Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and the Lego Star Wars series. The game is played from a third-person perspective. The gameplay of the game is primarily about fighting enemies, solving puzzles collecting Lego “studs” etc. Sometimes players need to assemble Lego objects to advance the level. Players use several vehicles, including the Batmobile, Batboat, and Batwing, to fight on land, sea, and air. Several new abilities introduced here include picking up enemies, carrying them, and walking on a tightrope across buildings. The game has a cooperative mode where two players can play. The game has thirty levels and two secret levels as well. The game has many different environments based on the enemy’s crime style. There is an ice cream factory, a botanical garden, and the Gotham sewers. The game is divided into many chapters, each with five levels per chapter. The chapters are divided equally between main characters and enemies. Completing a hero chapter unlocks the corresponding chapter. Completing Story Mode unlocks levels for “Free Play” mode.
Here the player can purchase additional characters. In the game, the comic-like character can attack enemies and take over machines with hand buzzers. Hush can be unlocked after finding 25 hostages in the Villain-Hero level. Players can swap the costumes of each of the main heroes such as Batman, Robin, Batgirl, and Nightwing. Batman enters the game in a classic gray suit, which allows Batman to fly for a short time while he is wearing the suit. The Sonic Suit can break glass, the Demolition Suit allows Batman to plant bombs and detonate them, and the Heat Protection Suit helps Batman or Batgirl survive hot temperatures. Suits must be covered with Lego bricks during Story Mode, but when the player finds those suits, they can link to their corresponding characters in “Free Play” mode.
